Alan Craig Weeks 61 of 415 North Main Street Milton Iowa died at 10:15 P.M. January 20 2009 at the V.A. Medical Center in Iowa City.He was born November 29 1947 in Ottumwa Iowa to William W. and Doris I. Bowers Weeks. He married Carol Evelyn Collett June 8 1968. They divorced. He married the love of his life Cherie Doud November 8 1992.A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1966 he served in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict.He had worked for Ottumwa Printing owned and operated A and D handyman and Weeks Contracting and had worked in North Pole Alaska on military housing. He had worked as a chef in Dubuque Iowa for a short time and had also worked at Pioneer and Cargill. He enjoyed his family and especially the grandchildren the wee ones. He said grandchildren are the jewels in an old mans crown. Alan loved fishing with grandchildren and going to auctions. He was ordained as an evangelist through Gods Way Church in Keokuk Iowa. He had a heart for the plight of the Jewish people going back to Israel and was responsible for sending nineteen people home. His mission was to witness to everyone and bring them to the Lord on a daily basis.Surviving is his wife Cherie a son Shaun Weeks and Gigi of Carlisle Iowa two daughters: Rhonda Hoskinson of Memphis Missouri and Kent Sabrina Spurgeon and her husband Destery of Granger Missouri two sons: Neil Carr of Ft. Lauderdale Florida and Patrick Carr of Bellevue Nebraska twelve grandchildren: Andrea Hopkins Ali Hubbard Daniel Carr Chaylee Weeks Beca Hubbard Tyler Deiters Kaitlin Deiters Makayla Hoskinson Sayde Grace Spurgeon Lexi Hoskinson Corbyn Job Spurgeon and Anakin Hodge. Other survivors include his father William Weeks Ottumwa Iowa a brother Ray Weeks and his wife Carla of Cedar Rapids Iowa two sisters: Cherie Walker and her husband Jay and Connie Halblom and her husband Neil of Fremont Iowa and one brother-in-law Steve Doud and his wife Leanne of Alvin Texas.He was preceded in death by his mother Doris Weeks a daughter LeBeth Carr and a brother-in-law Jeffrey Doud.A visitation will be held before the service from 1 P.M. till 2:30 P.M. Sunday January 25 2009 at the Downing Christian Church in Downing Missouri.Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday at the Downing Christian Church with Larry Smith Jeremy Skinner M.O.G. and Debra Muntz officiating. Burial will follow in the Downing Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Dick Hanna Zach Halblom Ryan Halblom Chet Spurgeon Gary Fulk Mike Kinnamon Mike Wickstandt and Don Roe.
