Obituary

Ann Ellen McMains 88 passed away June 25 2010 at the home where she was born in Bloomfield Iowa.She was born July 31 1921 in Bloomfield Iowa to Earl S. and Willa F. Parks Morgan.She attended school in Bloomfield and was a graduate of Bloomfield High School Class of 1938. She attended Bloomfield Junior College Iowa State Teachers College and graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville Missouri. She married Francis Olen McMains on December 6 1943 at the Christian Church in Bloomfield and to this union four children were born.Ann Ellen was an elementary teacher and taught school in Pulaski Fort Madison and in the Davis County school system for 36 years before retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church having served as an elder and was a past president of the Christian Womens Fellowship. She was a seventy-year member of P.E.O. a member of TTT a fifty-year member of the Friendship Chapter #46 Order of Eastern Star Delta Kappa Gamma the American Legion Auxiliary Chautauqua Club and the Davis County Hospital Auxiliary where she served as a Pink Lady. She also delivered Meals on Wheels.She was a passionate bridge player and was currently playing in two groups of which she had done for many years. She also enjoyed traveling eating breakfast out and playing cribbage with her family. Ann Ellen received her most enjoyment when she could be with her family grandchildren and great grandchildren.She is survived by two daughters: Marcia Phillips and her husband Bob of Kansas City Missouri Lynn Ann McMains of Coralvillle Iowa two sons: Stuart McMains and his wife Ginny of Brookfield Missouri and David McMains of Bloomfield Iowa. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Jared Phillips and his wife Carla Megan Doyle and her husband Kelly Zach McMains Jacob McMains five great grandchildren: Ryann Reese and Reagan Doyle Charlotte and Greta Phillips nieces nephews and many friends.She was preceded in death by her parents her husband and two brothers Park Morgan and Jack Morgan.A visitation with family present to greet relatives and friends will be held on Monday June 28 from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M. in the Fellowship Hall of the Bloomfield Christian Church. A P.E.O. service will precede visitation at 4:45 P.M. Funeral services will be Tuesday June 29 at 10:30 A.M. at the Bloomfield Christian Church with Pastor Stephen Bowie officiating. Music will be provided by Karen Spargur organist and Gary Russell vocalist.Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Bloomfield. Casket bearers will be Mike Pottorff Zach McMains Jacob McMains Joe Morgan Kelly Doyle Jared Phillips and Megan Doyle. Memorials may be made to the Bloomfield Christian Church Scholarship Fund and may be left at the church or mailed to Memphis Funeral Home 378 South Market Street Memphis Missouri 63555.
