Obituary

Anna Elizabeth "Annie" Epperson, 91, of Bloomfield, Iowa, died Saturday, September 14, 2013, at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born June 12, 1922, in Queen City, Missouri, to Asa B. and Velma Oliver Barnhart. She grew up in north east Missouri and graduated from Glenwood High School, Class of 1940, in Glenwood, Missouri. On February 28, 1942, she was married to James Willard Epperson in Lancaster, Missouri and to this union two daughters were born. Annie worked for eighteen years in the cafe at the Bloomfield Livestock Market, Inc. and as a nurse's aide at Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield for twenty years. She also assisted her husband with the operation of Jim's Auction House, also in Bloomfield. She was a past member of the Davis County Hospital Auxilary. She loved the outdoors and gardening; sharing her produce with many people and one of her greatest joys was the many, many walks around town and for many years with her beloved dog, Buddy. Annie's greatest delight was realized when she had the opportunity to spend time with her family. She is survived by her daughters: Becky Rysdam and her husband, Rex, of Bloomfield and Margie Olinger and her husband, Tom, of Downing, Missouri; five grandsons: Brian Rysdam and his wife, Kristy, of Columbia, Missouri; Jeff Rysdam and his wife, Tara, of Olathe, Kansas; James Heckethorn and his wife, Jodell; Mitchell Heckethorn and Lane Heckethorn, all of Ottumwa, Iowa and eleven great grandchildren: Alex and Khloe Heckethorn, Matt and Will Rysdam, Grace, Lily and Thomas Rysdam, Anna and Emmy Heckethorn, Mason Paulus and Olivia Heckethorn. Other survivors include a sister, Sara Beeler, of Lancaster, Missouri; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Schupbach and her husband, Leo, of Lancaster, Missouri; Marilyn Barnhart of Bloomfield; Hazel Barnhart; nieces, nephews and friends. Annie was preceded in death by her husband, James, in 1996; three brothers: John Barnhart, Howard Barnhart and Oliver Barnhart; three sisters: Neva Chaumont, Nita Welch, Ida Lenore Barnhart in infancy and her beloved dog, Buddy.
