Betty Louise Gooden 88 of Milton Iowa died December 21 2011 at the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield Iowa.She was born September 14 1923 in Dana Iowa to Earl Floyd and Lula May Richards Holloway.She attended grade school in Churdan Iowa began high school in Scranton Iowa and graduated from high school in Milton Iowa class of 1941.She married Robert Junior Gooden on December 17 1941 in the Memphis Christian Parsonage and to this union two children were born.Betty assisted her husband with their farming operation after they purchased a farm south of Milton in 1951. She enjoyed quilting embroidering and sewing. She loved to cook and was noted for her famous donuts. Her true passion was realized when could be with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and her husband enjoyed playing cards and were members of the Happy Hour Card Club for many years and also participated in the card marathon in Memphis Missouri. She was a member of the Red Hats. She was a member of the Milton Christian Church and ladies group and was affiliated with the Memphis First Christian Church after she and her husband moved to Memphis in 1991. In 2007 she moved back to Milton and was affiliated in the Gods Way Christian Center. Betty is survived by a son Bobby Gooden and a daughter Barb Creath and husband Lon all of Milton Iowa five grandchildren: Jennifer Origer and her husband Bruno of Cumming Iowa Robin Airy of Columbus Ohio Jina Tanner and her husband Michael of Hollywood Florida Jocelyn Rosdail of Milton Iowa and Ryan Gooden and his wife Sandi of Farmington Iowa ten great grandchildren: Bryce Origer Rylee Origer Tanner Rosdial Jordyn Airy Zachary Tanner Taylor Airy Taryn Courtney Kylee Ectenson Annee Lampe Drew Zane and a great-great granddaughter Rylee Lampe.She was preceded in death by her parents her husband Robert on April 11 2003 two sisters: Doris Hayes and Vivienne Harman and a brother Dick Holloway.A visitation with the family present to greet relatives and friends will be held at the Memphis Funeral Home on Tuesday December 27 2011 from 9 A.M. until 11 A.M.Funeral services will follow the visitation with Brothers Jack Sumption and Justin DeVries and Pastor Debra Muntz officiating. Music will be provided by Ann Luther accompanist and Schelle Cooley vocalist. Burial will follow in South Prairie Cemetery in Van Buren County south of Milton Iowa. Casket bearers will be John Aylward Jim Matheney Wayne Norton Jack Sharp Curtis Short and David Short. Honorary bearers will be Martha Blair Norris Gaffney Bud Garrett June Helsel Frances Overstreet Dorothy Scott Lowell Scott Mary Louise Short Paul Thomas and Mary Louise Whitcanack.
