Claris Kraus 88 of rural Memphis Missouri passed away at her home on June 4 2011.She was born on April 24 1923 at Luray Missouri to George and Helen Theresa Glasscock Hopp.She lived in Clark County Missouri until she married Karl J. Kraus on May 22 1943 in LaPlata Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 26 2004.She attended Kahoka High School and was a graduate of the Class of 1943.Claris was a member of the Arbela Methodist Church and the Ladies Aid. In addition to being a homemaker she assisted her husband with milking cows. She also enjoyed gardening cooking quilting and was an excellent seamstress. She received her most enjoyment when she could be with her family grandchildren great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.She is survived by three sons: Darrel L. Kraus and his wife Kathryn of Memphis Missouri Harlan K. Kraus and his wife Connie of Downing Missouri and Ronnie G. Kraus of Memphis Missouri two daughters: Charlotte Sommer and her husband Dan of Old Monroe Missouri and Vonda Harvey and her husband James of Magnolia Texas twelve grandchildren twenty one great grandchildreneight great-great grandchildren nieces nephews and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents her husband of 61 years five sisters: Zola Miller Beatrice Hopp Estelle Herring Norma Bogener Cleatus Kraus and two brothers: George Hopp Jr. and Cecil Hopp.Visitation will open after 9 A.M. Wednesday June 8 at Memphis Funeral Home with the family present to greet relatives and friends from 6 until 8 P.M.Funeral services will be held Thursday June 9 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Homer Poor officiating. Burial will follow in the Memphis Cemetery.
