Craig Dean Brown, 59, of rural Arbela, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 6, 2024, in VanBuren County, Iowa as a result of a UTV accident.

He was born on November 30, 1964, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Ronald Floyd and Linda Marilyn Tague Brown.

Craig attended Scotland County High School and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Gorin, Missouri.

He lived in the Memphis Area most of his life and worked with heavy equipment in construction and farming, most recently with Brewer Farms.

Craig was a social member of the Memphis VFW, and always eager to volunteer his help. He enjoyed trophy deer hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, raising chickens, gardening and canning. It brought him happiness to share his produce and canned goods with family and friends.

Craig is survived by his mother, Linda Brown of Kirksville, Missouri; a special friend, Linda Byrn of Kahoka, Missouri; step-mother, Peggy Brown of Memphis, Missouri; daughters, Fallon (Shawn) Guthrie of Moberly, Missouri, Audrey (Brenden) Brown of Portland, Oregan, Arron (Wes) Brown of St. Charles, Missouri, and a son, Joseph Simmons of Springfield, Missouri; brother, Doug (Renee) Brown of Wyaconda, Missouri;  step-brothers, Scott (Angela) Westhoff of Kirksville, Missouri and Stacy (Tonya) Westhoff of Memphis, Missouri;  sister-in-law, Donna (Jeff) Wyatt of Macon, Missouri; grandsons, Teyton and Tiernan Guthrie; uncles including, Gurden (Dana) Tague of Kirksville, Missouri; nephews and niece, Colby  (Katie) Brown, Emily Brown, Seth Brown, and Jace Brown; and  numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Brown; brother, Kurt Brown; and nephew, Zack Brown.

A Celebration of Craig's Life will be held Friday, September 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m.  at the Memphis Funeral Home in Memphis, Missouri with the family receiving friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

An expression of sympathy in memory of Craig Brown may be left to the Downing Cemetery or the Memphis VFW Post #4958 or to organization of Donor's Choice. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Memphis Funeral Home 378 S. Market Street, Memphis, Missouri 63555.
