David F. "Burl" McMains, 66, of Bloomfield, Iowa, passed away January 4, 2018, at the Bloomfield Care Center.

He was born November 13, 1951, at Bloomfield, Iowa, to Francis Olen and Ann Ellen (Morgan) McMains.  David grew up and attended school in Bloomfield.  He was a 1970 graduate of the Davis County Community High School in Bloomfield.  He received a Bachelor's of Science in Education degree from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in Kirksville, Missouri.

David was employed for thirty-two years in the housekeeping department of the Davis County Hospital, retiring in 2009.

Those that knew David remembered him as a very kind individual and the least judgmental person known to them.  He was a member and former deacon of the Bloomfield Christian Church.  David enjoyed sports, especially bowling, softball, and his beloved Chicago Bears and Cubs, as well as movies and collecting baseball cards and Matchbox cars.  He was a topnotch cribbage player and loved trivia. David realized his greatest passion when he could spend time with his family and loved sharing, with pride and delight, the accomplishments of his niece and nephews.

David is lovingly remembered by his three siblings:  Marcia Phillips and her husband, Bob, of Olathe, Kansas; Stuart McMains and his wife, Ginny, of Brookfield, Missouri and Lynn McMains of Coralville, Iowa. He also leaves behind his "adopted" daughter, Stephanie Moffet-Goodwin, a niece, three nephews, three great nieces and a great nephew.

David was preceded in death by his parents.
