Obituary

Debbie Darlene Vangrinsven, 52, of Eugene, Missouri passed away Saturday, February 1, 2020, at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born on February 14, 1967, in Kirksville, Missouri, the daughter of Richard and Doris Lambert Nelson. She graduated from the Scotland County High School in Memphis, Missouri, in the Class of 1986. Currently she owns and operates the Pop-A-Top Bar and Grill in Eugene, Missouri. Debbie enjoyed raising her children, loved the outdoors, planting flowers, and finding bargains at yard sales. She always lent a helping hand to anyone in need. One of her greatest joys was spoiling her only grandson, Bentley. Debbie had a sweet nature and was loved by many. On July 6, 1986, in Colony, Missouri, Debbie married Tracy Hettinger and to this union three children were born. Later, on June 25, 2011, in Eugene, Missouri, she married Tom Vangrinsven, and he survives of the home in Eugene, Missouri. Also surviving are three children Travis Hettinger, Trevor Hettinger, and Brittany Hettinger and friend, Wally Wolff; a step son, Steven and Katie Vangrinsven; a grandson, Bentley Gardner; her parents, Doris Oliver, and Richard Nelson and Carol Dobson; four sisters, Tammy Stull, Sheila Cummins, Jessie Steveson and Chrissy Justice; three brothers, Rick Nelson, Eddie Nelson and Dee J. Wheeler; mother-in-law, June Wellage; brother-in-laws, Mike, Tim, Dan and Dave; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Debbie was preceded in death by her grandparents, C.A. and Hazel Nelson, Joe and Martha Groseclose; and stepfather, Junior Oliver. A Celebration of Debbie's Life will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2020, at the Baring Hall in Baring, Missouri. A Celebration of Life will also be at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2020, at the Pop-A-Top Bar and Grill in Eugene, Missouri. An expression of sympathy in memory of Debbie may be left to the Family. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home, 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
