Delores Smith Eggers, 88, of Memphis, Missouri, was given the gift of life January 18, 1927 and returned to God's arms August 14, 2015. She lived most of her life in Bushnell, Illinois with her parents, Edmund and Lula Hulett, a brother, Herschel and a sister, Hazel. She married Fred Kendall Smith on May 27, 1945. They had three children: Fred (Linda) Smith, Linda (Bill) Willis and Jana (Tom) Wiest. She was a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. After the death of her husband, Fred, in 1974, she worked as a secretary, hostess and office manager. Later, she opened a restaurant and fulfilled a dream of having her own business. She loved to read, quilt, cook, work in her flower gardens and help others. She had a servant's heart; whether it involved opening her home to others, leading children's church or adult Sunday school or baking for many church functions. She married George Eggers on November 2, 2002 and her family increased with the addition of sons: Gary (Kathy) Eggers and Greg (Leslie) Eggers, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She moved to Memphis, Missouri and became involved with her church and community. Together, she and George delivered "Meals On Wheels" faithfully and helped with the weekly preparation of meals for "Team Kids" at church. She loved and supported her family unconditionally and found the most joy when they were by her side. They were always in her daily prayers. We were inspired by her kind and generous spirit. We will miss her dearly and are thankful for the legacy of faith and love that she has left with her life.
