Obituary

Dennis David Schwedler, 81, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 09, 2025, at the LaBelle Manor in LaBelle, Missouri.

He was born on November 5, 1943, in Burlington, Wisconsin, the son of Raymond Dyson and Hilma Mary Ott Schwedler.

He attended school in Union Grove, Wisconsin and graduated from the Union Grove High School in the Class of 1962, and his family relocated to Riverside California that year.

On June 14, 1966, in Colony Missouri, Dennis married Floy Jean Primm and to this union two daughters were born and one son was adopted.

Dennis honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for twenty year (1963 – 1983) before retiring. He was stationed in Southeast Asia, Thailand in support of Vietnam and was stationed at the Kirksville Air Force Station at Sublet, Missouri, where he met his future wife, during his service. While in the Air Force he became proficient in computer repair and later worked for Wiley Labs in Newport News, Virginia; GTE in Norfolk, Virginia before retiring.

He enjoyed working on computers, auto repair, genealogy, and travel, but most of all, he loved to visit with people.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Jean Schwedler of Edina, Missouri; two daughters, Karen and her husband, Steve Gregory, of Independence, Kansas and Debra and her husband, Doug Jones, of Edina, Missouri; a brother Rodney and his wife, Elizabeth Schwedler, of Cerritos, California; a sister, Dianne Monroe, of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Lea, Douglas, Dyson and Gabriel; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Hilma Schwedler; a son, Richard Schwedler in April 2024; a brother, Kenneth and his wife, Donna Schwedler; and a brother-in-law, Jim Monroe.

Dennis's wishes were to be cremated and a private family service will take place at a later date.

An expression of sympathy in memory of Dennis Schwedler may be left to the LaBelle Manor or the Knox County Food Cupboard. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
