Edith Faye  Crawford-Gordon, 96, of Huntley, Illinois, died Wednesday evening, December 28, 2016, at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, Illinois.

She was born in rural Downing, Missouri, on October13, 1920, to Elbert Hamilton and Nora Alice (Smith) Crawford.  She graduated from Downing High School and attended college for one year.

Edith was united in marriage to Robert Patterson Gordon on December 31, 1977, at Saugatuck, Michigan.   She worked for Bell Telephone Company; first as a switchboard operator and retired as an equipment engineer.  After retirement she and Bob moved to Mesa, Arizona, where they lived for several years.  In order that they might be closer to family, they relocated to Huntley, Illinois, two years ago.

Edith and Bob enjoyed dancing and did so for many years.  She was known as a great cook but most importantly she will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Left to cherish Edith's memory is her husband, Bob, of Huntley, Illinois; a daughter, Dottie Guarine, of Huntley, Illinois; a sister, Lucille Winkelman of Huntley, Illinois; two sisters-in-law:   Ivalee Crawford and Mary Belle Moffett, both of Columbia, Missouri .  Other survivors include two grandchildren:  Amanda Becker and her husband, Tom and Tracy Szczepanski and her husband, Dean and two great grandchildren: Timmy Becker and Christine Becker, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert E. Zierden; a sister, Nellie Lowder; three brothers:  Earl T. Crawford, William "Frank" Crawford and Sam Crawford and a niece, Connie Crawford.
