Edith Horst Martin of 11641 State Hwy. 15, Memphis, Missouri, 63537, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at her residence north of Memphis.
She was born on June 18, 1952, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania the daughter of David W. and Edna B. Martin.
On May 20, 1972, at Mt. Etna, Pennsylvania, Edith married Curvin Martin and they moved to Missouri on March 1, 1977. They were blessed with 48 years together.
Mom will be remembered as a very caring person with a big heart for hurting people, especially for the youth. She was also well known for visiting the nursing home.
Edith was a member of the Meadow View Mennonite Church, north of Memphis, Missouri.
She is survived by her husband, Curvin Martin of Memphis, Missouri; six children, Delmar and Faith Martin of Memphis, Missouri, Curvin Dean and Esther Martin of Leon, Iowa, Mabel and Anthony Weiler of Edina, Missouri, Eldon and Karen Martin of Milton, Iowa, Ruth Elaine and Daryl Martin of Memphis, Missouri and Clinton and Julie Martin of Robesonia, Pennsylvania; thirty-three grandchildren; one great grandson; ten siblings, brothers, Luke Martin of Tyrone, Pennsylvania, John David (Helen) Martin of Woodbury, Tennessee, Leroy (Susan) Martin of Geneva, New York, Rufus (Mabel) Martin of Myerstown, Pennsylvania, Henry (Mandy) Martin of Pine Grove, Pennsylvania, Elvin (Arlene) Martin of Sparta, Wisconsin and Landis (Janet) Martin of Geneva, New York; sisters, Verna (Clair) Burkholder of Myerstown, Pennsylvania, Mary Huber of Memphis, Missouri, and Edna Mae (Frank) Horning Lebanon, Pennsylvnia; a brother-in-law, David Martin of Newmanstown, Pennsylvania; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Edith was preceded in death by her parents, David and Edna Martin; and three sisters, Elsie Martin, Mabel Martin and Elizabeth Martin.
Funeral Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2020, at the Meadow View Mennonite Church north of Memphis, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2020, at the Hillcrest Mennonite Community Center south of Memphis, Missouri.
Interment will be in the Meadow View Mennonite Cemetery, north of Memphis, Missouri.
The Ministry will be Luke Fox, Vernon Oberholtzer, Wilson Martin, and nephew, David Martin, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Delmar Martin, Curvin Dean Martin, Anthony Weiler, Eldon Martin, Daryl Martin and Clinton Martin.
Edith Martin's family request your presence and prayers, no flowers please.
The Memphis Funeral Home, of Memphis, Missouri, is in charge of arrangements.
