Edith H. Oberholtzer, 79, departed this life unexpectedly from heart failure Sunday, June 2, 2024 at her home near Rutledge, MO.
She was born March 22, 1945, in rural East Earl, PA, the youngest child of Harry M. and Mabel N. (Hoover) Good.
On April 2, 1966, in rural East Earl, PA, she was united in marriage to Irvin W. Oberholtzer and to this union their four children were born, in Pennsylvania.
Irvin and Edith moved their family to a dairy farm near Rutledge, MO in October, 1979, where she was a busy farm wife. She often served guests and many of her acquaintances received crocheted or quilted gifts from her. For many years, she served the community by being a licensed therapist.
Edith is survived by her husband, Irvin Oberholtzer, of 58 years. Two sons, Virgil of the home and Lynnford and wife, Marlene (Martin) Oberholtzer, of Rutledge, MO. Two daughters, Delores and husband, Harold Martin, of Edina, MO and Dorothy and husband, Wayne Zimmerman, of Lancaster, MO, 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, one brother, Harry (Thelma) Good, three sisters, Esther Sensenig, Martha Burkholder, and Mabel (Amos K.) Martin, a brother in-law Paul (Mary Edna) Oberholtzer, along with numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry (63) and Mabel (90) Good. Three brothers, Clarence Good (91), Martin Good (75), and an infant brother, Hoover Good. Three sisters, Grace Lehman (91), Elizabeth Good (14), and Anna Oberholtzer (44). Two infant grandsons, Nelson and Jonathon Martin and two infant great-grandsons, Kendrew Zimmerman and Gordon Zimmerman.
She was a member of Prairie Ridge Mennonite Church west of Rutledge, MO and will be the first interment for the adjoining cemetery.
Visitation is planned for Sunday, June 9, 12:30 to 4 and 6 to 8 at Hillcrest Mennonite Community Center south of Memphis, MO.
Funeral is to be Monday, June 10 at Prairie Ridge Mennonite Church with Charles Zimmerman, Paul Wesley Oberholtzer, Earl Oberholtzer, LeAllen Ramer, and Jason Burkholder officiating.
Pall bearers are Clifford Oberholtzer, Leon Oberholtzer, Lamar Oberholtzer, Eldon Oberholtzer, Russell Martin, and Randall Zimmerman.
Doss Funeral Home of Edina, Missouri is assisting the family with arrangements.
