Erma Imogene Guthrie 93 of Bloomfield Iowa died Monday April 20 2009 at the Davis County Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Bloomfield Iowa.She was born November 15 1915 in Scotland County Missouri to Riley and Sally Margaret Barnett Meeks. She grew up in the Bible Grove area and graduated from the eighth grade having attended Loe School. Erma married Floyd M. Couch at Memphis Missouri on November 17 1933. To this union one daughter Betty Sue was born. Floyd died February 28 1954. She then married Eugene W. Guthrie on November 23 1968 and they made their home in Park Forest Illinois until 1994 when they moved to Bloomfield Iowa. Erma was a homemaker and was a very caring person and as long as her health permitted helped others in any way she could. She worked in the homes of several local families. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Bible Grove Missouri.She is survived by her husband Eugene Guthrie of Bloomfield Iowa a daughter Betty Sue Casady and her husband Gary of Bloomfield Iowa two step-daughters Jill Righter of North Carolina and Rita Jewett of Buffalo New York a step-son Walter Guthrie of Buffalo New York two grandchildren: David Lee Casady of Bloomfield Iowa and Duane Dee Casady of Fayette Missouri a step-great grandson Kevin Link and his wife Fallon of Bloomfield Iowa and two great great grandchildren: Nivek Link and Nevaeh Link all of whom she loved as her own. Other survivors include sisters-in-law Leta Thrasher and her husband Floyd Rufus of Aurora Missouri Mildred Meeks of Princeton Missouri and many nieces nephews and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents her husband Floyd three brothers: Paul Meeks Perry Meeks Willard Ivan Meeks and three sisters Cleone Meeks in infancy Pauline Tarr and Dorothy Erwin. She was also preceded in death by six half brothers and sisters including Gertie Boone Florence Shawley and Clarence Meeks.Open visitation will be held at the Memphis Funeral Home Memphis Missouri on Thursday April 23 2009 from 9 AM till 5 PM. The family will be present at the funeral home from 1 PM until the time of service at 2PM on Friday April 24 2009 to greet relatives and friends. Preacher Ted Thrasher will officiate the service. Music will be provided by Connie Courtney accompanist and Joe Fulk vocalist. Burial will follow in Church of Christ Cemetery at Bible Grove Missouri.
