Evelyn A. Doss, 78, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

Evelyn was born on May 29, 1938, in Novelty, Missouri, the daughter of Charley Howard and Inez Lee Swann.

She graduated from the Novelty High School in 1956 and on October 27, 1959, in Kirksville, Missouri, Evelyn married Gerald Stanley Doss.

Evelyn worked at the Burnham Manufacturing “Glove Factory” and helped on the family farm. She raised a big garden, canning what she raised and selling the surplus around Edina to her loyal customers. She mowed many yards around the county. Evelyn enjoyed collecting cookie jars and cookbooks. She was a member of the Novelty Christian Church in Novelty, Missouri.

Most of all Grandma Evelyn loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren to the point of spoiling them.

Evelyn is survived by ; two sons, Randy and his wife Pam Doss of Novelty, Missouri and Jeffrey and his wife Gail Doss of Edina, Missouri; a daughter, Stacey and her husband Doug Byrn of Downing, Missouri; five grandchildren; Jason and Regina Doss of Novelty, Missouri, Andrea and Sam Rueter of Monticello, Missouri, Logan Byrn, MacKenzie and Jerad Fuller of Memphis, Missouri and Kylie Byrn of Downing, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Addy and Karter Doss and Lecen and Brysen Fuller; a brother, Dr. James “Jim” and his wife Gudrun Swann of Springfield, Missouri; one sister, Karen and her husband Vic Miller of Knox City, Missouri ; sisters-in-law, Suzanne “Sue” Swann of Quincy, Illinois, Deanna Swann of Edwardsville, Illinois and Patty Swann of New Haven, Missouri; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and host of friends.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Doss on October 28, 2007; a son, Stanley Doss on April 10, 1987; parents, Charley and Inez Swann; a sister, Patricia Swann; six brothers, Jerry Lee Swann, Richard “Dick” Swann, Tom Swann, Dale Swann, Don Lynn Swann and Kenny Swann.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Linville Cemetery in Edina, Missouri.

Pastor Larry Smith will officiate and Casket Bearers will be Logan Byrn, MacKenzie and Jerad Fuller, Jason Doss, Sam Rueter, and Kylie Byrn.
