Obituary

Elinor "Faye" Baskett Hayes of Columbia, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on May 6, 2025.

Faye, known lovingly by her family and friends, was born on July 6, 1943, and lived a life full of fun, love, kindness, and devotion to her family. Her door was always open, and her warmth and generosity will be deeply missed. Her family requests that she be remembered for the joy she brought to the world and not by the sadness of her passing.

Faye leaves behind six children: Kim (Danny) Grant, Gena (Brett) Patton, Joe (Laura) Hayes, Amie (Mike) Hollinger Niemeyer, Kati Grant (Mike Watson) (all of Columbia, MO), and Staci (Brad) Henks of Lee's Summit, MO. Her legacy lives on through her 20 grandchildren: Matt, Steve, and Emily Grant, Lindsey Mueller, Michael, Heather, Brandon, and Rachel Henks, Taylor Wordsworth, and Bennett Patton, Ali Noordsy, Taylor Tungesvik, Caitlin Hayes, Lexie Darrough, Anna Hollinger, Kerstie and Hayden Niemeyer, Vera, Ella, and Luke Grant. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, two sisters, and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.

Faye was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry Hayes; her parents, Charles and Vera Baskett; her in-laws, Robert and Georgena Hayes of Edina, MO; as well as her son-in-law, Richard Hollinger and grandson, Evan Hollinger, both of Columbia, MO.

Faye's family was her heart. Her nurturing, positive spirit, and unwavering love left an indelible mark on everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will forever be cherished by all those whose lives she touched, and her legacy will continue through the generations she leaves behind. The songs she sang and the memories she created will forever make us smile.

Per her request, there will not be a service. Memorial contributions may be sent to Compassus Hospice Care, 303 N. Keene St., Suite 306, Columbia, MO 65201.
