Fred Junior "Bud" Allen, 86, of Memphis, Missouri, died April 11, 2013, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis. He was born June 29, 1926, at Chicago, Illinois, to Fred Wallace and Lela Lucille Ketchum Allen. Bud grew up on farms north of Hitt, Missouri, Downing, Missouri and the north Barker area. He received his elementary education at Bourn School and Downing Elementary School, and attended Downing High School and Memphis High School. He served in the U.S. Army, during W.W. II, receiving an honorable discharge in 1946. He was awarded a Bronze Battle Star. After his military service, Bud returned to Memphis and worked with his father and others hauling trailer homes. He also hauled lime in Scotland County, Missouri, before his move to New Mexico. Bud worked out of Holbrook, Arizona and was an over the road truck driver, hauling propane in the western region of the U.S. He took much pride in the fact that he drove over three million miles, accident free. He enjoyed watching Cardinal baseball and loved to read western novels; his favorite author was Louis LAmour and he enjoyed listening to country western music. He is survived by a sister, Effie E. "Jeanie" Allen, of Memphis, Missouri; a nephew, Richard L. Wilburn, Jr. and his wife, Beth; a great niece, Breanne Wilburn, great-great niece, Kennedi Wilburn and great nephew, Nathan Wilburn, all of Chandler, Arizona; a great niece, Rachel Hartke and her husband, Nate and a great-great nephew, Micah Hartke, all of Tucson, Arizona; another niece, Valerie Allen, and a great niece, Bailey Kay Allen, and a nephew, James W. Allen, all of Albuquerque, New Mexico and a former brother-in -law, Richard L. Wilburn, Sr. of Kingman, Arizona. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James O. Allen and a sister-in-law, Lois Allen.
