Fritz G. Vassholz 73 of Memphis Missouri passed away Friday March 4 2011 at Boone County Hospital in Columbia Missouri. He was born January 22 1938 in Kansas City Missouri to Frank and Lucrietta Rock Vassholz.He attended school in Kansas City Missouri.On March 7 1959 he married Mary Louise Hall in Independence Missouri and to this union two children were born.Fritz worked for Ford Motor Company in Kansas City and Claycomo Missouri where he loaded new automobiles on the railcars for shipment from 1956 until 1973. In 1973 he relocated to Memphis where he row cropped and raised cattle and hogs until the time of his death. From 1974 until 1996 he hauled can and bulk milk for area farmers. He also owned a dozing business from 1986 until 2007. He was a very private person who enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.He is survived by his wife a son James Vassholz and his wife Lynette and a daughter Norma Grubb all of Memphis. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Sarah Grubb of Memphis Kaitlin Grubb of Knox City Missouri Bethanie Grubb of Memphis Christina Vassholz and Charley Vassholz both of Kirksville Missouri niece nephews friends and sister.He was preceded in death by his parents a step-mother Norma Wille and a brother Frank Vassholz.Visitation will open after noon on Monday March 7 2011 with the family present to greet relatives and friends from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 8 2011 at 1 P.M. at Memphis Funeral Home with Reverend Charles Hammack officiating. Music will be provided by Joan Hinds organist and Joe Fulk vocalist.Burial will follow the service in Memphis Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Jerry Grubb Gavin Hauk Kenneth Hauk Jr. Junior Jones Jason Moss and Robert Waddell. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be made to the Gorin Fire Department First Responders and may be left at or mailed to Memphis Funeral Home 378 South Market Street Memphis Missouri 63555.
