Obituary

Gayle Jean Johnson 71 of Memphis Missouri died April 8 2011 at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis.She was born on November 21 1939 in Washington Missouri to Tessie Hortense Minar and Carl Alvin Johnson.Gayle grew up in St. Clair Missouri and attended Community Church and Indian Prairie School near Union Missouri graduating from the eighth grade in 1952 and graduated from St. Clair High School in 1956. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Central Methodist College in 1960 majoring in business and attained a minor degree in music. Gayle married John H. Johnson on June 19 1960 at St. Clair Missouri and to this union three children were born.She was a member of the Memphis United Methodist Church and Chapter C P. E. O.She was a homemaker and served as executive secretary for the Pepsi-Cola Memphis Bottling Co. in Memphis enjoyed gardening bird watching and quilting. She was very active with Girl Scouts church womens groups and P.E.O. Gayles greatest enjoyment was while spending time with her family and her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband John of Memphi a son Michael Johnson and his wife Beth of Memphis two daughters: Lori AlJundi and her husband Eyad of Kirksville Missouri and Dana Bondurant and her husband Brent of Memphis. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Anna Kayli and Betsy Johnson Laith Zane and Evan AlJundi and Delayna Brock and Madie Bondurant nieces nephews and many friends.She was preceded in death by her parents Tessie and Carl Johnson a brother James Raines a sister-in-law Susie Raines and a nephew John Raines.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday April12 2011 at 11 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Memphis with Reverend David Howlett and Reverend Jim Campbell officiating. Music will be provided by Joan Hinds accompanist and Becky Zahn vocalist. Burial will follow in the Memphis Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Kevin Schuette Paul Schuette Steven Schuette Doug Raines Jason Raines and Mike E. Johnson. Honorary bearers will be Wanda Zimmerman Dorothy Martin Patricia Coffrin David Raines Roy Raines Neil Johnson and Dan Larson.Visitation will open after 9 A.M. on Monday April 11 2011 at the Memphis Funeral Home with the family present to greet relatives and friends from 6 until 8 P.M. P.E.O. service will be held at 5:30 P.M. prior to family visitation.
