John Eugene "Gene" Farris, 83, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Saturday evening at his home surrounded by family.

Gene was born October 26, 1939, in Greensburg, Missouri, the son of Sterling Eugene and Eva Neese Farris.

He attended school in Greensburg, Rutledge, Gorin and Baring, Missouri, before going to work driving a truck for Donk Hathaway, Campbell Farms and the Knox County School District. He drove a bus for more than 30 years retiring in 2013.

On January 26, 1974, at Baring, Missouri, Gene married Noreen Connie Dagenhart and they celebrated over 49 years of marriage.

Gene is survived by his wife Noreen Farris of Edina, Missouri; his children, Kevin Lewis and Nancy Farris of Surprise, Arizona, Karen Lee and Mike Cook of Glaucester, Virginia, and Douglas and Amy Farris of Irondale, Missouri; grandchildren, Meagan, Audrey, Vincent, Stephen, McKenzie, Myia, Ethan, Shawn, Tyson, Lance, Airyck, Chandler, and Prestyn; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Donna Farris; and a brother, Carl William and Rosy Farris.

A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 10, 2023, at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri, with the family receiving friends an hour prior to the services.

Pastor John Bode will officiate and recorded selections of music will be "Bridge over troubled waters" and "Six days on the road".

Interment will take place at a later date in the Linville Cemetery in Edina, Missouri
