Obituary

George Arthur Eggers, a faithful servant of Jesus, was born on May 28, 1926, in Bushnell, Illinois and died on August 14, 2015. He was 89 years old. He was the son of Russell H. and Rilla Brewer Eggers. He had one sister, Laverna Eggers Parham and one brother, Vern Eggers, who are both deceased. George served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war in 1947, he married Ruth Arlene Stockdale and to this union two sons were born: Gary Eggers who is married to Kathryn Parker and lives in Overland Park, Kansas and Gregory Eggers who is married to Leslie McCartney. Gregory and his wife own Scotland County Abstract & Title. Ruth Eggers died in 2002; she and George were married fifty-five years. In 2002, George married Delores (Dee Dee) Hulett Smith. George and Dee Dee arrived in heaven together, along with Dee Dee's daughter, Linda and her husband, Bill Willis. George is survived by his sons and their children and grandchildren and by Dee Dee's children, Fred Smith and his wife, Linda, of Bushnell, Illinois and Jana Wiest and her husband, Tom, of Waterloo, Iowa and their children and grandchildren. George spent most of his life as a sales representative for New Holland Farm Machine Company and later as a farm landlord in Scotland County, Missouri. He loved farming. George also had a private pilot's license and loved to fly. He was a deeply Christian man who loved to witness for Jesus and was a longtime deacon at the First Baptist Church of Memphis.
