George Edmund Mendenhall, 77, of Memphis, Missouri passed away Monday, March 11, 2024 at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, Missouri.
He was born June 11, 1946, in Granger, Missouri. The son of George Washington and Mable Otto Mendenhall. He attended school in Granger, Missouri and graduated from the Wyaconda High School in the Class of 1964.
On December 28, 1968, in Memphis, Missouri George married Joy Hamner and to this union two children were born.
They lived most of their life in the Memphis/Kahoka area except for a time when they lived in Louisiana before returning to Memphis. George worked many years as a truck driver for trucking companies including Dickey Trucking and he also worked construction for Tingle and at Barkers in Centerville, Iowa before retiring.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing but most of all he loved spending time with his grandkids and his great-grandkids.
George is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joy Mendenhall of Memphis, Missouri; one son, Raymond and Kimberly Mendenhall of Kirksville, Missouri; a daughter, Tracy Bunch of Kansas City, Missouri; four grandchildren, Dalton Mendenhall and Kayla Mendenhall both of Kirksville, Missouri; Drew Bunch and Blake Bunch, both of Kansas City, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Harlee Bunch, Brooks Bunch, Bennett Bunch all of Kansas City, Missouri; a special lifelong friend, Shirley Spurgeon of Granger, Missouri, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. George was one of eleven siblings.
Graveside Services will be Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at the Granger Cemetery South of Granger, Missouri.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Memphis Funeral Home in Memphis, Missouri.
An expression of sympathy in memory of George Mendenhall may be left to the Families Wishes. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Memphis Funeral Home 378 S. Market Street, Memphis, Missouri 63555.
