Ida Mae Horn 91 Bloomfield Iowa died July 28 2011 at the Bloomfield Care Center in Bloomfield.She was born July 31 1919 at Harwood Missouri to Earl Clinton and Cora Elizabeth Losey Davis. She was educated in Missouri and Iowa rural schools. She graduated from Bloomfield High School Class of 1937 and received a Normal Training Certificate from Bloomfield Normal School. She obtained her BA degree in education from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls Iowa in 1965 and a Masters Degree in education from Northeast Missouri State College in Kirksville Missouri in 1971 and also attended Drake University in Des Moines Iowa. Later she attended and received a degree as Judicial Magistrate at the Judicial College in Reno Nevada. She married Kenneth R. Horn on May 17 1938 at Downing Missouri and to this union four children were born. They made their home in Davis County for the majority of their married life. She was a teacher and counselor teaching in the public school systems of Davis Lee Black Hawk Jefferson and Van Buren counties in Iowa. She served on the Bloomfield City Council for eight years. She also served as a Judicial Magistrate in Lee and Jefferson counties in Iowa retiring in 1983. She moved to the Bloomfield Care Center in 2005. She was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church the Retired Teachers Association Delta Kappa Gamma Society and a past member of Rebekah Lodge #1.Ida is survived by a daughter Donna Nadine Walters and her husband Don of Cedar Rapids Iowa two sons: Richard D. Horn and his wife Carolyn of Edna Texas and Phillip R. Horn and his wife Carlene of Bloomfield Iowa two sisters: Ruth Bowling of Bloomfield Iowa and Ruby Burnett of Agency Iowa. Also surviving are ten grandchildren two step-grandsons 23 great grandchildren 13 great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents her husband Kenneth in 1986 a daughter Elizabeth Ann Fritz and two brothers: Wilbur W. Davis and John J. Davis.Visitation will open at the Bloomfield Christian Church on Monday August 1 2011 after 4 P.M. with the family present to greet friends and relatives from 6 until 8 P.M. Funeral services will be held Tuesday August 2 at 11 A.M. at the Bloomfield Christian Church with Reverend Jack Knox officiating. Music will be provided by Tish Johnson vocalist and accompanied by Karen Spargur. Burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Bloomfield. Casket bearers will be Steve Bowling Ron Burnett Mike Davis Earl Grove Chad Horn and Don Walters. Honorary bearers will be David Horn Dick Horn Phil Horn Rick Horn Jeff Hoffman and Shawn Hoffman.
