Ivan Lee Ruth 82 of Memphis Missouri died Saturday May 28 2011 at his home in Memphis.He was born November 15 1928 at Downing Missouri to John Raymond and Millie Pernie Wheeler Ruth. He attended school in Downing and was a graduate of Downing High School Class of 1947.He served in the United States Army.He married Ilene Lancaster on June 1 1949 at the Christian parsonage in Memphis. She preceded him in death on September 27 1999. He later married Shirley June Chancellor on October 28 2000 at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis.Ivan was a farmer and raised cattle and hogs. He had a passion for Ford tractors and used them throughout his farming career.He was a member of the Memphis First Christian Church.Left to honor his memory is his wife Shirley a sister Pernie Rae Smith of Anchorage Alaska three brothers: Avon L. Ruth and his wife Jeanne Jean of Downing Missouri I. G. Ruth and his wife Maxine of Downing John E. Ruth and his wife Lois of Jefferson City Missouri a stepdaughter Linda Butler of Quincy Illinois a stepson Ray Chancellor and his wife Shirlene of Rutledge Missouri a step-granddaughter Sue Anderson and her husband Ryan of Memphis Missouri a step-grandson John Chancellor of Rutledge Missouri and a step great granddaughter Kendal Anderson. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law: Eileen Johnson of Yankton South Dakota Harriet Randall of Vermillion South Dakota two brothers-in-law: Robert Johnson and his wife Natalie of Vermillion South Dakota Don Cuka of Utica South Dakota nieces nephews and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday June 2 2011 at Memphis Funeral Home with Brother Larry Smith officiating. Music will be provided by Ann Luther accompanist and Lori Fulk vocalist. Burial will follow in the Memphis Cemetery with military honors accorded by Wallace W. Gillespie Memorial Post 4958. Casket bearers will be Ryan Anderson John Chancellor Brian Ruth John A. Ruth Mitch Ruth and Rita Starnes. Honorary bearers will be Danny Emel Alan Garrett Bobby Garrett David Ruth and Philip Ruth.
