R. Jack Kinnamon 84 of Bloomfield Iowa passed away June 21 2010 at the Bloomfield Care Center.He was born January 16 1926 in Davis County Iowa to Verbal G. and Monna B. Simmons Kinnamon and was a life-long resident of Davis County.He was a 1944 graduate of Bloomfield High School graduated from Bloomfield Junior College and attended Drake University in Des Moines Iowa. He served in the United States Army Air Force during W.W.II.Jack married Virginia Lee Inskeep March 27 1955 in the Little Brown Church at Nashua Iowa.He was an insurance agent and owned and operated Kinnamon Insurance Agency in Bloomfield for twenty-one years. He was also enrolled as an agent to practice for the Internal Revenue Service and prepared income taxes for many people in the community.He was a member of the Bloomfield Christian Church and served diligently as a trustee for many years. Jack was also very active in the community having served on the city council for 4 years was a member of the Davis County Hospital Board of Directors for 8 years a past member of the Bloomfield Lions Club and a past member of the Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce. He was a 50-year member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge a 62-year Master Mason past member of Kaaba Temple Shrine and was a 64-year member of the American Legion Reed-Whisler Post #78 having served as commander. He enjoyed traveling playing golf and his greatest joy came from spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Virginia of Bloomfield two sons: Michael K. Kinnamon of New York City New York Jay B. Kinnamon and his wife Ann of Overland Park Kansas a daughter Jan R. Stevenson and her husband Brian of Bloomfield Iowa seven grandchildren: Anna Kinnamon Leah Kinnamon Kyle Kinnamon Kevin Kinnamon Ryan Boatman Cayle Marie Boatman Dane Stevenson and a sister Diane Kinnamon of Rochester Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Charlotte Merchant and Connie Kinnamon.Cremation has been accorded. A visitation with the family present to greet relatives and friends will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the Bloomfield Christian Church on Sunday June 27 2010 from 4 P.M. until 7 P.M. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday June 28 at 10:30 A.M. at the Bloomfield Christian Church with Reverend Stephen Bowie officiating. A scripture reading will be offered by Michael Kinnamon. Music will be provided by vocalist Wayne Van Mersbergen and accompanied by Karen Spargur. Burial of cremains will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors afforded by the American Legion Reed- Whisler Post #78.Memorials may be made to the Jack Kinnamon Memorial Dollars for Scholars and may be left at the church or mailed to Memphis Funeral Home 378 South Market Street Memphis Missouri 63555.
