James Morey Jones 91 of Memphis Missouri died Friday evening May 8 2009 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville Missouri. He was born in Stoddard County Missouri October 22 1917 to Harvey Walter and Jenny Vida Cox Jones.He graduated from high school at Carthage Illinois. James married Lois Ellen Kimbrough in May of 1937 at St. Louis Missouri. To this union a daughter and two sons were born. Lois died on Valentines Day of 1970 at Bloomfield Iowa. James then married Jeanette Mary Birchmier on June 20 1970 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Bloomfield Iowa and to this union a daughter was born. Jeanette died January 3 1995 at Memphis Missouri.James was a farmer having raised crops and livestock. As a young man he served with the Civilian Conservation Corp. He did construction work for several years and also worked as a dispatcher for the Memphis Police Department. He was a member of St. Johns Church in Memphis.He is survived by two daughters: Eileen of Aurora Illinois and Joanne of Memphis Missouri a son Jerry J. Jones and his wife Brenda of Alexandria Missouri a daughter in law Ann Jones of Burlington Iowa a brother Walter Jones and a sister Ruth Taylor both of Hamilton Illinois. Other survivors include five grandchildren twelve great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter as well as many other relatives nieces nephews and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents his wives a son James R. Jones a brother Arthur Jones two half-sisters: Ellen Noyes and Edna Carr and a grandson Wm. Eric Brandt.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday May 12 2009 at 10:30 AM at St. Johns Catholic Church in Memphis with Reverend Bill Kottenstette officiating. Music will be provided by Nancy Reardon organist and Brent Karhoff vocalist. Burial will follow in Oakwood cemetery at Hamilton Illinois. Casket bearers will be Bill Cottrell Kris Lister Jim Ward Leon Wheeler Ron McElhinney and Dr. William Dixon. Dr. Larry Wiggins and Frank Seaver will serve as honorary casket bearers.
