James Melvin "Jimmy" Scott, 75, of rural Edina, Missouri, passed away Friday, December 27, 2019, at the Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Jimmy was born on September 17, 1944, near Rutledge, Missouri, the son of Melvin Leland "Sam" and Relta Cavell Miller Scott.
He lived on a farm near Rutledge, Missouri before moving, with his parents, to the present farm east of Baring, Missouri, in 1955.
After graduating from the Baring High School in the Class of 1962. He worked for Earl Dromey after his service to his country in the United State Army.
Jimmy had also worked at the Borg-Warner Chemical Plant near Ottawa, Illinois for a couple of years before returning to Baring, Missouri to help his dad farm.
He was a member of the Baring Community Church in Baring, Missouri. He enjoyed bowling in his youth and loved to visit neighbors. Jimmy almost never missed his Saturday trips, with his niece Sheryl, to purchase lottery tickets and eat at the IDK Café in Baring, Missouri.
Jimmy is survived by his two sisters, Mary Alice and her husband Vance Myers of Kirksville, Missouri and Linda Carol and her husband J.D. Rogers of Jefferson City, Missouri; five nieces and nephews, Sheryl Myers of Edina, Missouri, Alan and his wife Theresa Myers of Kirksville, Missouri, Laura Shoop of Kirksville, Missouri, Amy and her husband Chris Rogers of Springfield, Missouri, and Andrew and his wife Christina Rogers of Jefferson City, Missouri; great nieces and nephews, Scott and Tara Myers, Shane and Jessica Myers, Austin Myers, Stephanie Gray, Aaron Shoop, Adam and Natasha Shoop, Mallorey Rogers, Mitchell Rogers, Eleanor Rogers, Alyssia Bass, Alexander Wyatt, and Jasmine Wyatt; along with a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Relta Scott.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.
Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2019, with the family receiving friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.
Burial will be in the Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, Missouri. Full Millitary Honors by Cyril A Graham American Legion Post #261.
