Jimmy Edward Whisenant, 78, of Edina, Missouri, formerly of Louisiana, was called home Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

He was born December 30, 1947, in New Orleans, Louisiana, on the military base, the son of Arlen Verlon and Minnie Juanita Joles Whisenant.

Jimmy moved to Missouri in the late 1990's and on March 30, 2003 he was united in marriage to Barbara Cordary Frazier.

To this marriage Jimmy brought five daughters, and Barbara brought two daughters and one son to make their family.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of nearly twenty-three years, Barbara Whisenant of Edina, Missouri; his kids, Angela Young, Christina Brouillette, Jimmy Marie Whisenant, Amanda Stelzer, Stephenie Conn and Tresha Shultz; siblings, Virginia Whitehead and Linda Whisenant; lots of grandchildren and great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by father in 1999 and his mother in 1986; a daughter, Lisa Edmonds and siblings, Viola Welch and Arlen Whisenant, Jr.

Jimmy loved going thrifting, loved his western movies, smoking cigars and always had to be dressed up no matter where he was going, but most of all Jimmy loved to make people smile by sharing a joke. He loved mamma with his whole heart, always writing her little love notes and telling her just that.
