John "Poppy" Dodge, 67, of Memphis, Missouri, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2016,  at Scotland County Hospital in Memphis.

He was born January 10, 1949, at Kirksville, Missouri, to Ezra Dee and Vada Victoria (Woods) Dodge.

He was a 1967 graduate of Memphis High School.  He attended Northeast Missouri State College in Kirksville, Missouri, graduating in 1971 with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Accounting.

John was married to Vicki Lynn Miller on July 23, 1967, at the Gorin Baptist Church and to this union three children were born.

He worked in the retail grocery business most of his adult life, was the current owner and operator of J's Foods "Poppy's" Hometown Store in Memphis.

John was an active member in the community having been a member of the Memphis Fire Department, the Scotland County Rotary Club, served on the Scotland County R-1 School Board as well as on the Board of Directors of Affiliated Foods and a member of the National Grocers Association. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Memphis.

He enjoyed fishing, was an avid fan of the Scotland County Tigers, Mizzou Tigers, Kansas City Chiefs and the St. Louis Cardinals but his greatest enjoyment and passion was spending time with his grandchildren and attending their various school activities.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki, of the home, a daughter, Kris Hyde and husband, Mike, of Memphis; a son, Matt and wife, Batina, of Memphis and eight grandchildren: Jake Hyde, Alexis Dodge, Paige Hyde, Gage Dodge, Annie Hyde, Grady Dodge, Mazy Dodge and Gavyn John Dodge.  Also surviving is a sister, Nancy Purvis, of Lake Saint Louis, Missouri; his pets, Maggie, Abby and Callie and many nieces, nephews and countless friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Mike Dodge and a brother-in-law, Leonard Purvis.
