Leo Allan Woods, 90, of Memphis, Missouri, died Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis.
He was born July 29, 1925, in Vest Township, Crawford, Missouri, to Leo Price and Daisy (McGee) Woods.
He attended Hazel Dell School through the eighth grade.
Leo enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II, in 1946 and served for 2 ½ years before he was discharged with honor.
He married Cleo Doris Mathes on June 27, 1948, at the Methodist Church in Memphis, Missouri and to this union three children were born.
Leo was a farmer, planting row crop and raising livestock, until his retirement in 1978.
Left to honor his memory is a daughter. Mona Rose Leedom, of Coralville, Iowa and a son, Milo Allan Woods, of Memphis, Missouri. Other survivors include five grandchildren: Jerry Woods, Barbara Reed. Mark Woods, Kelli Woods and Marla Grosvenor; two step grandchildren: Rusty Leedom and Kim Kettler and her husband, Kelly; twelve great grandchildren: Monica, Ryley and Grant Woods; Justin, Dominic. Cambria and Colton Woods and Abreigh Reed; Iva Woods; Joshua and Heather Woods; Jessica and Ryan Grosvenor and a great great grandson, Kelby Kettler. Also surviving is a sister, Golda Seybold and many nieces and nephews.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Michael Leo Woods; two great grandsons: James and Travis Woods and a sister in infancy.
Burial will be private at the Memphis Cemetery. No other service is planned at this time. A Celebration of Life for Leo and Cleo will be held at a later date.
