Lettie Annette (Howerton) Troutt departed this life on August 22, 2023.
Annette was born in Kirksville, MO on August 23, 1937, the only child of Claude and Opal M. (Porter) Howerton. She was married to the late, Rex Troutt and was mother to Janet Rexanne (Troutt) Willis and Monty Reginald (Reggie) Troutt.
Annette grew up in Novelty, Mo on a farm homesteaded by her Great Grandfather, C.R. Porter, where he had raised draft horses and carriage horses. Her love of horses stemmed from growing up on this farm, the Paramount Stock Farm. Annette also enjoyed showing horses, especially her horse, Cherokee Chief. This love of horses carried over to later years when she often owned a horse and had ponies for the grandkids.
During her childhood, Annette's Father, Claude owned and operated Novelty Drug Store and her mother, Opal was an elementary school teacher. Annette made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at age 12 in Novelty Christian Church, where her mother was Superintendent of Sunday School.
Annette's husband, Rex worked for United Telephone Company, and they lived in various places moving with his job until they settled in Waynesville, MO. During her life, Annette worked in various administrative jobs to include working in the Waynesville area for Miller Insurance Agency and for the American Family Insurance agency.
Annette enjoyed being a member of the Waynesville Study Club for many years. Where she worked on many projects in the Waynesville area. She also enjoyed woodworking with Helen, a lifelong friend. After retiring, Annette substituted in an administrative position for Waynesville High School, worked in the library of the Waynesille United Methodist church as well as doing volunteer work at Good Samaritian.
After raising their children, Annette and her husband, Rex built their dream home, a log house on acreage near Waynesville. They enjoyed sharing their home with their children and grandchildren. Family often visited to fish, swim, horseback ride, and ride ATV's. Their farm created many good memories for their family.
Annette is survived by daughter Rexanne Willis (spouse Rick), including grandchildren Justin O'Riley (spouse Dawn, great-grandchildren Kennedy and Cooper), Jordan Walters (spouse Chris, great-grandchildren Haidyn and Brailynn), step-grandchildren Ashlee (Willis) Mackey (spouse Marvin, great-grandson Cael), and Lacey (Willis) Davis (spouse Matt, great-grandchildren Easton and Griffin). By son Reggie Troutt (spouse Timothy Price), including grandchildren Caleb Troutt (spouse Erin, great-grandchildren Sydda, Journey, Lilli, and Gemma), Courtney Sale (spouse Dusty, great-grandchildren Tegan and Landon), and step-granddaughter Maggie.
Memorial contributions may be left at or sent to Waynesville Memorial Chapel in Annette's name. Contributions will be used to help her Grandson and his wife, who are working to provide a stable home for children in need.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 31, 2023 in the Novelty Cemetery of Novelty, MO.
