Obituary

Helen Louise Peterson (Louise), 85, of Wentzville and formerly of Troy, MO passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at SSM – Lake St. Louis.

She was born on June 20, 1936 in Ottumwa, Iowa to Dale and Velma (Ensminger) Snodgrass.  Louise was an only child and so special to her parents.

After graduating from high school, she attended and graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College in Iowa in 1958.  Louise was joined in holy matrimony to Clark Dale Peterson on August 26, 1961 in Cantril, Iowa and to this union was born their daughter, Stacia.

Louise was an elementary teacher who had worked in Washington, Iowa, Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Troy, MO and lastly Winfield, MO.   She took great pride in her students and was very nurturing to each and everyone of them.  Helping them do their very best in school was so important to her.  Tending to her many flower gardens and working in the yard was what she liked to do.  Spending hours upon hours planting and caring for her vegetables and flowers was what she enjoyed.  Louise had been a devoted member of Troy Garden Club for many years, and upon moving to Wentzville became a member there also.  The family also had an inground pool and Louise loved swimming with family and friends.  She was a faithful member of Wentzville United Methodist Church.  Her grandsons were her pride and joy.  She attended their baseball games and golf matches whenever she could.  Louise valued her time spent with them and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She will be greatly missed and long remembered by all those who knew and loved her.

Surviving are her loving family members:  her daughter, Stacia Peterson of Wentzville; two grandsons: Kurt and Trent Matheney of Wentzville; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband  of over 59 years, Clark Peterson, who passed away on December 29,2021.

A graveside service is scheduled at 1:00p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2022 at Milton Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton, Iowa.  Expressions of sympathy may be made to Wentzville United Methodist Church or United Services for Children (Louise's daughter has been an active part for over 25 years), c/o McCoy-Blossom Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1304 Boone St., Troy, MO 6337.
