Loweldene Fincher, 88, of Memphis, Missouri and formerly of Downing, Missouri, died Thursday, February 26, 2015, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis. He was born November 18, 1926, at Downing, Missouri, to John William and Ruby Leone (Presser) Fincher. He grew up in Downing and attended Downing High School, graduating with the class of 1944. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp on May 16, 1945, serving in Germany. He attended Gem City Business College and graduated in 1948. Loweldene was a rural mail carrier for the Downing Postal Service for more than fifty years. In the early years of transporting the mail, all the roads were dirt except for three miles. He married Gloria Eilene Wineinger on April 6, 1948, at the Baptist Parsonage in Lancaster, Missouri, with Reverend Ben Bradbury officiating and to this union two sons were born. Loweldene was a devoted husband of sixty-six years. Loweldene was a life-long member of the Memphis V.F.W. and had membership in the Kirksville Moose Lodge. He was a member of the Downing Baptist Church. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed playing golf, hunting and fishing. He was the 2006 Downing Appreciation Days Grand Marshall. He is survived by his wife and two sons: Timothy R. Fincher and his wife, Debbie, of Greentop, Missouri and Terry Fincher and his wife, Lynn, of Memphis. Also surviving is a grandson, Rodney Fincher and his wife, Diane, of Kirksville, Missouri; five granddaughters: Sonya Martin of Hazelwood, Missouri; Shana Omoresemi and her husband, John, of O'Fallon, Missouri; Jill Fincher and Lindsey Fincher, both of Jefferson, City, Missouri; Robin Bartlett and her husband, Michael, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri and six great grandchildren: Damien Martin, Shaun Martin, Curtis Martin, Madison Rankin, Kailey Bartlett and Payton Bartlett. Loweldene was preceded in death by his parents.
