Obituary

Margaret Faye "Maggie" Allen, age 88, of Clarence, MO, formerly of Edina, MO, passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at Clarence Care Center in Clarence, MO. Maggie was born on February 14, 1934, in Woodville, MO the daughter of Raymond and Lola (Hard) Green. She was united in marriage to Rufus Allen on August 10, 1984 in Novelty, MO. He preceded her in death on March 13, 2009. She is survived by her children, Larry Mettes and his wife Annetta of Clarence, MO, Bernadette Hancock and her husband Terry of Duncan's Bridge, MO, Kimberly Minor of Monroe City, MO, Patrick Mettes of Clarence, MO, and Marla Esry and her husband Scott of Atlanta, GA; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Alice Green of Eldridge, IA; and several nieces and nephews. Maggie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rufus; daughter, Janet Lynn Mettes Langhammer; sister, Carol Rae McCarty; and brother, John Thomas Green. Maggie was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Red Hats Society. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, shopping, flea marketing, and antiques. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Clarence, MO, with Father Bill Peckman as the celebrant. Burial will follow in the Mt. Salem Cemetery in Newark, MO. Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Clarence, MO. Memorials can be made to the Mt. Salem Cemetery or Knox County Senior Citizens.
