Obituary

Mary Jo Marlowe 83 of Memphis Missouri died Thursday June 11 2009 at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis Missouri.She was born March 21 1926 at Keokuk Iowa to Walter Richard and Dorothy Platter Dierks..She was a member of the graduating class of 1944 from Memphis High School. . .She married Charles Junior Marlow on September 6 1947 at the Presbyterian Church in Memphis Missouri and to this union two children were born.Growing up on a farm Mary Jo was a great horse lover. She would often barrel race and liked hayrack rides. Mary Jo was a homemaker and also worked as a cook for several years at Scotland County R-I School. Mary Jo was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Memphis. She always enjoyed animals and the past several years fed squirrels and had a pet robin that she fed grapes to. Mary Jo was a past member of the Chapter C P.E.O. and Carter Chapter #107 Order of the Eastern Star.She is survived by a son John Walter Walt Marlowe and his wife Linda of Memphis and a daughter Sara Jo Phillips and her husband Robert or Memphis and four grandchildren: Shawn Michael Phillips and his wife Kristal Brandi Jo Fuller and her husband Jardin Jeremiah Kurtis Marlowe and Joshua Brinton Marlowe and his fianc Christine Kirchner . Three great-grandchildren Baileigh McKena PhillipsBrenna Malcigh Phillips and Jardin Lawrence Fuller and her dog Josey also survives.Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents her husband Charles on August 7 2004 and a grandson Jonathan Marlowe..Funeral services were held Saturday June 13 2009 at 2:00 pm at the Memphis Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Hite and Brother Larry Smith officiating. Music was provided by Ann Luther accompanist and vocalist Lindsay Tippett. .Burial was in the Memphis Cemetery. Casket bearers were Roger Gosney Rick Morrow Shawn Phillips Jeremiah Marlowe Joshua Marlowe and David Trueblood. Memorials may be made to Scotland County Nutrition Site or the American Lung Association and may be left at or mailed to Memphis Funeral Home 378 South Market Street Memphis Missouri 63555.
