Nelson Carl Parrish, 90, of LaBelle , Missouri , passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017 , at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville , Missouri .

He was born on October 31, 1926 , in LaGrange , Missouri , the son of Carl and Maurita Goelbricht Parrish.

After his school years, he served his country in the United State Army during World War II.

Nelson worked at the Wells Lamont Glove Factory in Edina , Missouri , while there he met Laura Lee Haines. On October 6, 1950 , in Edina , Missouri , they were united in marriage by the Reverend Tate and to this union two sons were born, Douglas and David.

They made their home in Edina , then in Ft. Madison and Burlington , Iowa where Nelson worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. After living in Iowa , the couple moved to northern Illinois , first in Richmond , then to Woodstock , Illinois , eventually settling in Crystal Lake , Illinois where they lived until their retirement and moved back to LaBelle , Missouri in 2000.

Nelson is survived by his two sons, Douglas and his wife Ginger of LaBelle, Missouri and David of Lake In The Hills, Illinois; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two great great grandchild; a brother, Lindsey Parrish of LaGrange, Missouri; three sisters, Margie Tarpein of LaGrange, Missouri, Donna and Larry Ledbetter of LaBelle, Missouri and Freda Brooks of Texas; a sister-in-law, Pat and her husband Alva Grant of Edina, Missouri; a niece, Gretchen Parrish of Baring, Missouri; along with a host of friends.

Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Lee Parrish on October 31, 2015 ; his parents; and a sister, June McCabe on April 7, 2004 .

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. , Saturday, April 29, 2017 , at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina , Missouri .

Visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. Saturday with the family receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Full Military Honors will be in the Linville Cemetery in Edina , Missouri by the Knox City American Legion Post.

Reverend James Salter will officiate and Casket Bearers will be Roy Lewis, Kyle Clay, Law rence Stutsman, Dutch Whitaker, Doug Parrish Jr., Rick Parrish and Ricky Parrish.
