Vera Paulene (Tudor) Austin, daughter of Carl and Anna (Rhodes) Tudor, was born in Lawrenceburg, Indiana on May 7, 1928 and passed away on September 18, 2012 at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, Missouri. She attended high school in Granger, Missouri and was a graduate of the class of 1947. Paulene and William (Billy) Austin were married May 14, 1948, before the Justice of The Peace, in Wyaconda, Missouri in a double wedding ceremony in which Paulene's sister, Edna Tudor and James Brown were also married. Paulene and Billy were the parents of two children, Marsha and John. Paulene accepted Jesus as her Savior and was an active member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Gorin, Missouri. Through the years she played the organ, taught Sunday School classes, worked with G.A. girls and the Women's Missionary Union. Paulene spent much time gardening, baking, cooking and caring for her family. As a young homemaker she became a member of the Cedar Grove Sewing Club where she learned to make beautiful quilts and the club members became lifelong friends and neighbors. Paulene was preceded in death by her husband, Billy; her parents and two sisters: Edna Brown and Amy Colton. She is survived by a daughter, Marsha Davis and her husband, Dean and a son, John Austin and his wife, Donna, all of Memphis, Missouri and four grandchildren: Paula Rubinstein and her husband, Scott, of Columbia, Missouri; Deana Evans and her husband, Doug, of Kansas City, Missouri; Keith Davis and his wife, Brenda, of Centralia, Missouri and Jeremy Austin and his wife, Leslie, of Trenton, Missouri. Also surviving are eight great grandchildren: Riley and Tucker Evans, Rebecca and Emily Rubinstein, Cayla, Peyton and Mara Davis and Bode Austin.
