Loreta Jean "Reta" Morris, age 89, of Memphis, Missouri, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020 at her home .
She was born September 20, 1930, at Barnes City, Iowa, in Mahaska County, to Alvie and Ada Mae (McMains) Dye.
She was united in marriage to Chester Arthur "Chet" Jennings on January 3, 1947, at Kirksville, Missouri and to this union three children were born.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol McSorley her husband Ron, and their children, Tamra (Chuck) and Mark (Kim); great grandsons, Evan and Declan; a son, Allen Jennings, his wife, Sherry, and their children, Tyler and Elizabeth, and a daughter, Brenda Wilkinson, her husband, Terry, and children Aimee, Adrienne and Tracey. Also surviving are step-grandchildren and nieces as well as many dear friends.
Reta married her "true soul mate", William Pence, on May 18, 1972, at the Baptist Church in Memphis, he preceded her in death in March 1976. She married Austin Arden Morris in February 14, 2000 in Steelville, Missouri, they enjoyed extensive traveling, and he preceded her in death in February 2011.
She farmed, raised chickens for market, owned and operated an upholstery and drapery shop in Memphis and was a nurse's tech at the Scotland County Hospital for many years. Reta received her GED in 1980. Reta also owned and operated a tanning spa and worked as a realtor in Memphis and Cuba, Missouri. Reta enjoyed gardening, her flowers, rides in the country and spending time with her many dear friends.
Reta was a member of First Christian Church in Memphis.
As an expression of sympathy, memorials may be given to the First Christian Church in Memphis and may be left at or mailed to Memphis Funeral Home, 378 South Market Street Memphis, Missouri 63555
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 30 2020 at the Memphis Funeral Home in Memphis, Missouri. Brother Jack Sumption officiating.
Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. till time of service on Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Memphis Cemetery.
An expression of sympathy in memory of Reta Morris may be left to the First Christian Church. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Memphis Funeral Home 378 S. Market Street, Memphis, Missouri 63555.
