Richard Lee Rick Parton 57 of Memphis Missouri died Sunday evening April 18 2010 at his home in rural Scotland County.He was born December 25 1952 at Kirksville Missouri to Lloyd Richard and Betty Evelyn Baker Parton.He attended Knox County High School and graduated with the class of 1970.Rick worked with the Sante Fe Railroad until he became disabled due to an injury received during the floods of 1993. He worked in plumbing construction hauled propane and as a truck driver.He married Janie Shelley on November 8 1980 in Memphis Missouri.Rick loved the outdoors especially being in the timber. Some of his favorite pastimes were cutting wood and mowing. He enjoyed watching westerns with his grandson. He enjoyed giving rides in his dune buggy to young and old. He experienced great delight in making children happy and seeing their eyes light up and this was especially evidenced in his joy when handing out treats to Amish children. It can be said overall that Rick truly loved people.He is survived by his wife Janie of Memphis two daughters: Heather Dawn Gjorgjievski and her husband Dejan of Wildwood Missouri Mindy Lee Parton of Pacific Missouri his parents Lloyd and Betty Parton of Edina Missouri and three grandchildren: Makai Parton Aiden Gjorgjievski and Zoey Gjorgjievski. Other survivors include a brother Darrell Parton and his wife Sharon of Troy Illinois a sister Bonnie Rowland and her husband Vance of Hurdland Missouri and many many friends.He was preceded in death by two brothers: David Parton and Dennis Parton.Visitation with the family present to greet relatives and friends will be held Friday evening April 23 2010 from 5 until 7 P.M. at the Memphis Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 7 P.M. The service will be officiated by Greg Shelley Chris Shelley and Sherry Lantz. Special prayers will be offered by Ricks daughters Heather Gjorgjievski and Mindy Parton.The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Scotland County Cancer Fund and may be left at or mailed to the Memphis Funeral Home 2378 South Market Street Memphis Missouri 63555.
