Ruby Lucille King, 90, of Memphis, Missouri and formally of Milton, Iowa, died Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
She was born October 6, 1925, at Mount Pleasant, Iowa, to Albert Ferdinand and Ella Dorthea (Anderson) Woline.
Ruby attended Mount Pleasant High School and was a graduate of the class of 1942. Following graduation from high school, she attended Burlington Beauty School.
She was married to Charles T. King on August 24, 1947, at the Swedesburg Lutheran Church in Swedesburg, Iowa and to this union four children were born. Ruby and her husband began their married life in Iowa City, Iowa, after which they lived in Des Moines, Iowa and then moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1961, where they lived for thirty years. Following her husband's retirement in 1990, they moved to their farm near Milton, Iowa. Due to Ruby's failing health, they moved to Residential Terrace in Memphis in 2013.
Ruby was a homemaker. She belonged to the Cedar Rapids P.E.O. Chapter LU and T.T.T. Chapter FI. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; was a member of their Women's Circle and attended the United Methodist Church in Milton, Iowa. Her greatest passion in life was to be able to spend time with her family and especially her grandchildren.
Preceding Ruby in death were her parents; two brothers: Harold Woline and John Woline and two sisters: June Woline and Jean Woline.
She is survived by her husband; three sons: Steven C. King and his wife, Susan, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Richard A. King and his wife, Judith Spencer, of West Branch, Iowa; Thomas D. King and his wife, Nancy, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and a daughter, Teresa "Teri" D. Haman and her husband, Dr. Jerry Haman, of Kirksville, Missouri. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Clare Mummey and her husband, Ben; David King; Marianne King; Barbara King and her husband, Carl Protsch; John Haman, Molly Haman; four great grandchildren and a brother, Richard Woline, of Mount Pleasant, Iowa.
