Shirley Marie Kaestner, 63, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 29, 2021, at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. She was born on August 30, 1957, in Kirksville, Missouri, the daughter of Frederick Harlan and Lila May Allen Lay. On October 31, 1975, in Kirksville, Missouri, Shirley married Larry Elvin Kaestner and to this union one son was born. She lived her entire life in Kirksville and was member of Salvation Army Church, in Kirksville, Missouri. Shirley enjoyed plastic canvas crafts, visiting with friends but most of all she loved spending time with family and most of all her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Larry Kaestner of Kirksville, Missouri; a son, Brandon and Katy Kaestner of Kirksville, Missouri; three brothers, John Lay of Queen City, Missouri, Freddie and Virginia Lay of Queen City, Missouri, and Charlie and Liz Lay of Brashear, Missouri; three sisters, Betty and David Wheeler of LaPlata, Missouri, Karen and John Burns of Kirksville, Missouri, and Sharon and Bill Pyle of Blue Springs, Missouri; two grandchildren, Jayde and Holli Kaestner of Kirksville, Missouri; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Lila Lay; and a sister, Jeanie Houser. It was Shirley's wishes to be cremated and the family will hold private services at a later date. Doss Funeral Home of Edina, Missouri, are assisting the family with her wishes.
