Stephen Lee Perrigo, 58, of Grain Valley, Missouri, formerly of Knox County, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

Steve was born on April 22, 1955, in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Donnie Lee and Estelle Jean “Jeanne” Simmons Perrigo.

He attended school in Plevna and Novelty before graduating from the Knox County High School in the Class of 1973.

After graduation Steve worked for Kelly Lime and Rock, Quincy Soybean and he worked several years in construction with several friends before moving to the Kansas City, Missouri area in about 1980. He worked construction with several companies including, C.R. Smith Construction and Superior Bowen Construction but most recently he worked as a mechanic for Scot Heller Trucking, where he loved his job and was surrounded by good people.

Steve was a member of the Mt. Salem Baptist Church near Plevna, Missouri. Following a family tradition he enjoyed collecting antiques and other collectibles but most of all he loved visiting with family.

He is survived by his daughters, Samantha Jean Perrigo and Krisi Atsuko Gillis Cushenbery and her husband Josh; a granddaughter, Angelyck Katherine Gillis; father, Donnie Perrigo and his wife Phyllis; a brother, Doug Perrigo and his wife Debbie; sisters, Jennifer Simms and her husband Bill and Stephanie Fifer and her husband Brian; along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanne Perrigo on May 14, 2012.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2013, at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home in Edina, Missouri.

Burial will be in the Mt. Salem Cemetery north of Plevna, Missouri.

Family and friends will share memories and Casket Bearers will be Sid Leckbee, Mike Schrage, Dennis Perrigo, Scot Heller, Rick Smithy, Alan Davis and Joe Bellmyer.
