Tampatha Elaine Dromey, 55, known affectionately as Tammy to her friends and loved ones, lived a life that was as radiant and precious as the jewelry she so adored. Born to Edwin and Clarece McCarty Troutt on July 5, 1969, in the small town of Kirksville, Missouri, Tammy's journey was one of compassion, laughter, and an unwavering spirit of giving. On October 25, 2024, in Quincy, Illinois, Tammy's vibrant life came to a peaceful close as she succumbed to a four-year battle with cancer.

Tammy's early years were the foundation upon which she built a life of service and care. Her high school graduation from Knox County High School in 1987 was a prelude to the dedication she would later show in her nursing career. The Kirksville Area Technical School was where she honed her skills and emerged as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), a title she carried with both pride and humility. Tammy's professional path was not merely a job but a calling, as she touched the lives of countless individuals with her healing hands and heartwarming smile. Throughout the years she had many jobs including LPN, childcare giver, and most recently she worked in housekeeping at the nursing home.

The essence of Tammy's life was one of boundless generosity. She shared her laughter as freely as she gave her love, brightening the days of everyone around her with a humor that was as infectious as it was endearing. Tammy's selflessness knew no bounds; she was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back, ask for nothing in return, and make you laugh while doing it.

Family was the essence of Tammy's world. On July 5, 1997, Tammy married Gordon Dromey and to this union a daughter was born. She is survived by her partner in life, Gordon Dromey and their beloved daughter, Hope Dromey, who was the apple of her eye and her greatest pride. She is also survived by her father, Edwin (Kay) Troutt, and a cherished sister to her siblings: Bill (Kim) Troutt, Brian (Stephanie) Troutt, Gary (Nadon) Sykes, Jr. and Christine (Tony) Jefferies, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends including Pam Morford and Paula Basico.

She was preceded in death by her mom, Clarece "Dee" Pape and her stepfather, Dwight Pape.

Tammy's interests reflected the joy she found in life's simple pleasures. Her pets were her adored companions, recipients of her endless affection and care. Perfume, bling, and jewelry were not mere adornments for Tammy; they were expressions of her vibrant soul, external manifestations of her internal zest for life.

To speak of Tammy is to speak of a life lived with gusto and grace. She faced the challenges of life, including her final battle with cancer, with a courage that inspired all who knew her. Her legacy is not one of sorrow but a testament to the power of positivity and the impact one life can have on so many others.

Let us remember Tammy not with sorrow but with the joy she brought into our lives. Her story is not one of loss but one of legacy—a legacy of love, of laughter, and of the indomitable spirit that she carried with her until her last breath. Tammy's journey on this earth may have reached its sunset, but the dawn of her memory rises with each new day, urging us to live fully, love deeply, and laugh heartily, just as she did.

A celebration of Tammy's life will be at the Doss Funeral Home on Monday, November 4, 2024. Family will receive friends from 4 – 6 PM with Memorial service at 6PM. Pastor Brian Burton will officiate.
