Terry Gene Crutcher, 80, of New London, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2020, at the Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, Missouri.
Terry was born on May 13, 1939, in Memphis, Missouri, the son of George D. and Olive Estelene Whittom Crutcher.
He was raised in the Memphis, Missouri area and attended Memphis High School before graduating from the Downing High School.
Terry worked several years with the Santa Fe Railroad before serving his country in the United States Navy. Upon completing his service he returned to the Santa Fe Railroad, in Fort Madison, Iowa and raised his family with his wife, Dorothy Lou Daggenhart.
He bought and sold used cars for numerous area dealers before starting his own lot, "Quality Used Cars" in Fort Madison, Iowa. He also sold cars for dealerships in Burlington, Iowa. Terry never really retired, he continued to work with a car dealership in New London, Missouri until his health failed.
Terry was an avid drag racer for more than 30 years, collecting numerous trophies. He enjoyed hunting and fishing trips, and never knew a stranger.
He is survived by five sons, Mark Crutcher and friend Kathy Wellman of Quincy, Illinois, Ray and Kim Crutcher of Fort Madison, Iowa, Ron Crutcher of Spring, Texas, Roy and Ghada Crutcher of California, and Todd Crutcher of Magnolia, Texas; three grandchildren, Angela Lee, Lisa Lacole and Adam; six great grandchildren; several cousins and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Olive Crutcher.
Terry's sons will have a memorial service will be held at a later date and burial will be in the Memphis Cemetery in Memphis, Missouri.
