Thelma Louise Berkoski, 98, of Bloomfield, Iowa and formerly of Milton, Iowa died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Bloomfield Care Center. Thelma was born September 9, 1913, in Valparaiso, Indiana to Benjamin C. and Ella M. Crowe Wood. She was the oldest daughter of six children. She graduated from Chesterton High School in Chesterton, Indiana. She married Peter Berkoski on February 17, 1934, at Crown Point, Indiana. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the farm. The family moved to Milton, Iowa in 1965. She was a member of the Farm Bureau. Thelma was a seamstress, making all of her clothes. She always had a large garden and especially enjoyed her flowers. Thelma and Pete were great dancers with a true passion for polka music. She moved to Bloomfield in 2009. She is survived by a daughter, Darlene K. Lohse and her husband, Al, of Clermont, Florida; two sons: M. Roger Berkoski and his wife, Terri, of Cantril, Iowa and Loren E, Berkoski and his wife, Joyce, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; six grandchildren: Brian Lohse and his wife, Debbie; Stuart Lohse and his wife, Lauri; Stefanie Koewler and her husband, David; Todd Berkoski and friend, Heidi; Andrew Berkoski and his wife, Kate and Aimee Swanson and her fiancé, Greg. Also surviving are ten great-grandchildren: Josh, Jacob, Thomas, Molly, Hannah, Caleb, Ryan, Christina, Eric and Michael; four step great grandchildren: Steven, Kevin, John and Kristin and great-great grand twins. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, James Paul, in infancy, a brother, Harold A. Wood and four sisters: Fern L. Satkoski, Dorothy V. Shultz, Ethel Henning and Verna Wood who died in infancy.
