Thomas "Tom" Rielly McCauley, 64, of St. Charles, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at The Kavanauh House in Des Moines, Iowa, with his family by his side.
Tom was born on March 21, 1961, in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of John "Jack" Edward and Elnor "Evie" Yvonne Hettinger McCauley.
He graduated from the Knox County High School in the Class of 1979. Tom continued his education at (AIB) American Institute of Business College in Des Moines, Iowa and attained an accounting degree, and became a CPA in 1989.
He had worked for Stroh Corporation of Des Moines, Iowa, as their CFO for more than 20 Years and retired in 2020.
He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri. He completed three Iron Man Competitions in Hawaii, Wisconsin and Arizona; and enjoyed gardening, canning, tending to his bee's, rebuilding tractors and small engines, and really looked forward to Tuesday night golf league, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be missed and as his Grandma Rose McCauley would say, "Thank You, I will dance at your wedding! After his diagnosis he found comfort in a Dr. Suess saying that he carried with him "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened!"

Tom is survived by his wife, Kirsten McCauley of St. Charles, Iowa, and his sons, Andrew and his wife, Katherine McCauley of Des Moines, Iowa, and their children, Maddie and David, and Nicholas McCauley of Colfax, Iowa; his mother, Evie McCauley of Edina, Missouri; brothers and sisters, Christina McCauley of Edina, Missouri and her sons, Jason and his wife Cheryl McCauley of Warrensburg, Missouri and their children, Jacob, Nellena and Sophia; Christopher and his wife Jessica McCauley of Blue Springs, Missouri and their son Cayden and daughter Kennedy; Ronald and his wife Dawn McCauley of Edina, Missouri and their daughter, Rachel and her husband Jacob McKenzie, and their children Michael, Emma and John of Lewistown, Missouri, a son, Joseph and his wife Allison McCauley of the Platte City, Missouri; Cynthia "Cindy" and her husband Chuck Long of Greentop, Missouri and their daughter Katie and husband, Tom Heywood of Grain Valley, Missouri and their children, Quinn, Logan, and Owen, a son, Austin of Greentop, Missouri; Roger and his wife, Patrice McCauley of St. Thomas, Pennsylvania and their sons, Zachary and his wife Samatha and their daughters, Gabrielle, Isabelle, and Estelle, Mark and his son, Lucas, Aaron "AJ" and his wife, Devonna McCauley and their daughter June all of Jacksonville, Florida and Brian; Dennis McCauley of Fredericksburg, Virginia, and his sons, Daniel and his wife Kendall McCauley and Matthew and a daughter, Lauren; Robert and his wife Saturday McCauley of Sedalia, Missouri; their sons, Caleb and his wife Macoya and their children, Keden, Kota, Kwahu, Kenai and Talluluah, Dillon and Seth and his wife, Yesi and their children, Roy and Raine, a daughter, Stormy and her fiancé, Matt Thomas and their children, Aspen, and Ivory; Corrine and her husband Jacob Nelson of Warrensburg, Missouri and their children, Ember, Dillon, Hannah and Jackson; a sister-in-law, Melissa McCauley of Edina, Missouri and their children Gabriel, Alexandra and her daughter, Naomi; and Grace and her husband Jaquerious Jordan and their son Josiah; along with several cousins, a host of friends and his fur babies, Molly and Rielly.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Jack McCauley on March 20, 2012; and his brother, Tim McCauley on November 15, 2014.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri.
Visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Edina, Missouri.
Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Edina, Missouri.
An expression of sympathy in memory of Thomas McCauley may be left to the Kavanauh House in Des Moines, Iowa or the Knox County Cancer Fund. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, Missouri 63537.
