Obituary

Zelda Marie Keith, 84, of Memphis, Missouri, died Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis.

She was born December 7, 1932, in Greentop, Missouri, to Marion Ernest and Bessie Mae (Brenizer) Fowler.

Zelda grew up in the Greentop area; attended Greentop High School, graduating with the class of 1949.  Following graduation she moved to Memphis, Missouri, where she lived with her sister, Mabel, and began her first job working for Everett at Keith's Café.

On January 30, 1951, Zelda was married to Everett Rice Keith in the Baptist Church parsonage in Memphis, Missouri and to this union three children were born.

In 1951, Everett and Zelda built the present Keith's Restaurant on his mother's garden space and operated the business for 59 years. For many years they would close the restaurant during the month of January so that they could enjoy the opportunity to travel, visiting family and pursuing their passion of seeking antiques. Zelda enjoyed sewing and was a member of the Quilt Guild, Sew & Go Club and the Scotland County Historical Society.

She was a member of the Methodist Church at Greentop, Missouri.

Left to cherish her memory is a daughter, Teresa Marie Keith (Ron Boone) of Des Moines, Iowa; two sons: Everett Rice Keith, Jr. (Scarlett) of Platte City, Missouri and George Richard Keith and his wife, Marla, of Medina, Ohio; three grandchildren: Gregory Richard Keith of Ohio, Morganna Keith of California and Nathan Caleb Spray and his wife, Dena, of Gainesville, Florida. Also surviving are two brothers: Marion Ernest Fowler, Jr. of Queen City, Missouri and Francis E. Fowler and his wife, Maryetta,  of Greentop, Missouri; nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Everett, of fifty-seven years in 2008, four sisters: Mabel Louder, Sivela Troop, Clara O. Hooker and Edith Elizabeth Fowler.
